Richard C. Roberts III

Richard C. Roberts III is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. He practices exclusively in the field of family law including all aspects of divorce, child custody, property division, premarital agreements, and adoption.

Mr. Roberts received his B.S. degree from the University of Mississippi and graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law. In law school, he served as associate editor of the Mississippi Law Journal and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the highest scholastic honor society at the University of Mississippi. He is a member of the University’s Lamar Order.

Mr. Roberts was elected president of the Mississippi Bar in 2003–2004. He is a Fellow in the National Conference of Bar Presidents and also a member of the Southern Conference of Bar Presidents. He has served as president of the Hinds County Bar Association and president of the Mississippi Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He served two three-year terms as a member of the Mississippi Board of Commissioners. He was elected to serve two terms as Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Mississippi Bar and served for many years on its Executive Committee. He is a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation and a Fellow of The Young Lawyers of the Mississippi Bar, currently serving on that organization’s Board of Directors. He is the immediate past president of the Charles Clark Chapter of the American Inns of Court and has served as a Master of the Bench in that organization for many years.

Mr. Roberts was named "Family Law Lawyer of the Year" for 2012 and 2019 in Jackson, Mississippi, by U. S. News – Best Lawyers. The firm was named "Best Family Law Firm in Jackson, Mississippi" by U. S. News – Best Lawyers for 2011–2012. For many years Mr. Roberts has been listed in Best Lawyers in America in the field of family law. In 2010, the Mississippi Business Journal selected Mr. Roberts as one of the 50 leading lawyers in Mississippi for its inaugural Leaders in Law. For many years he has been selected for listing in Mid-South Super Lawyers in the field of family law. He was one of 100 lawyers in Mississippi selected for membership in Outstanding Lawyers in America. For many years, Mr. Roberts has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.

Mr. Roberts is married to Ginny Cotten, from Gulfport, Mississippi. He attends Grace Bible Church in Ridgeland. He is active in many community and civic activities and has served on the board of several Mississippi nonprofit organizations.
